Welcome to Strathaven....

Never been here before? Here's what you have been missing. Although it has grown in recent years, Strathaven is still a small town. It does have a lot going for it though.

The town is steeped in history, with it's very own castle and museum, as well as many links with the history of the Covenanters. It's park, complete with boating pond, putting green and miniature railway is a magnet for day trippers in Summer, and the surrounding countryside provides plenty of rural walks.

If retail therapy is more your thing, you won't find any shopping malls here, but there are an abundance of small independant shops in and around the common green, along with teashops and restaurants where you can rest your weary feet. Every June, the town hosts it's Gala Day, complete with parade, a funfair and various activities in the park.

Strathaven became Scotland's first Fairtrade town, along with Aberfeldy, in December 2002.

Why not have a quick look at the town from the camera's eye?
