Strathaven Gala Day is usually held in the second Saturday in June and
is the culmination of a week of activities in the town. These activities include a
'duck race' where plastic ducks

Strathaven Pipe Bandsponsored by onlookers are raced down the Powmillon Burn which runs through
the public park, as well as a raft race where groups of locals build their own raft and attempt
to get to the finishing line without drowning.
The Gala Day itself takes off with a parade led by the Strathaven Pipe Band, followed by
local groups in fancy dress, and the Gala Queen and her various attendants.
